The success of the film series The Fast and the Furious made almost every cast extremely popular. But aside from the racers, several cars made it to the stardom as well. One of them is Brian O’Conner’s iconic Nissan Skyline.
Perfect Paint Job
Actually, there were several Skylines that appeared on the films, and it is almost not impossible to notice the weird stuff about them that didn’t make sense at all. One of the most unrealistic scenes that involved the Skyline was Brian O’Conner’s flawless paint job in The Turbo Charged Prelude.
Not to judge his painting skills, but in Canada, for you to obtain the Red Seal badge, you’ll spend 1-2 years in college first and will have to undergo four years of apprenticeship. However, in the film, Brian made it look like a piece of cake to do all the painting, buffing, and coating.
Immortal Car
Another fantasy-like moment was when the newly-modified Skyline did an amazing stunt, jumping off the bridge and landing in perfect condition.
I mean, even the Transformers will surely gain at least a scratch from that scenario, and 2 Fast 2 Furious is not even a sci-fi movie. There isn’t even a dent on the bumper when in real life, it was total wreckage.
Outlawed Skyline on the Streets
Details that are aligning with the common facts in actuality make the movie become exceptional. Just like Asia’s running inside joke of police arriving in the crime scene way behind time.
That detail is disappointing but realistic, and because of that, the audience could relate. But, there is one tiny detail the movie franchise forgot about the Skyline; the law in the United States banned it. And in the movie, we see the Nissan Skyline GT-R running around the street as if the law doesn’t forbid it.
Impossible Stunts
If you want to discuss technicalities, the production team did a major mistake exaggerating some of the stunts in the movie. In 2 Fast 2 Furious, we saw the 1999 Skyline dominates the race track shifting from gear to another.
But what makes it unbelievable is that Brian shifted gears eight times while his car only has six gears. Well, it looked pretty awesome in the film, but certainly unrealistic, technically speaking.
Another technical detail that they missed is when the wheels at the back of the skyline kept spinning all throughout the epic stunts. The scenes actually looked perfectly done, until you realize that the Skyline is a four-wheel-drive, and the spinning didn’t make sense at all.
Overall, the movie series is remarkable, and the team did an amazing job of modifying the vehicles to add spices in the scenes.
