Every year, the independent organization of journalists known as the White House Correspondents’ Association or the WHCA hosts the White House Correspondents Dinner. This annual dinner actually began in 1921 and is now considered to be one of the traditional dinners that the President and the Vice President attend. For the past couple of years, the said annual dinner has received criticisms and so far it was because of the list of guests.
This year, it has become controversial because United Stages President Donald Trump snubbed the annual dinner and then it led to a comedienne ended up going out of line by making some roasts regarding some issues within the Trump administration continue reading to find out more about it.
Michelle Wolf Roasts At White House Correspondents Dinner
Savage, that is one word to describe Michelle Wolf’s speech during this year’s White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington D.C. Trump didn’t make an appearance at this year’s dinner so he didn’t get to throw some punchlines but Wolf made sure that she had enough for everybody. The room was definitely full of journalists and most of them had gone quiet during Wolf’s speech. Some of them admitted to having been really shocked and just couldn’t believe what they are hearing.
Comedians being invited to the dinner weren’t just there to make an appearance, this is not the very first time they had to do their job and throw some jokes here and there regarding what is going on with the government. It is simply one of the goals of the annual dinner, to be able to have the freedom to have fun and express the independence of media
However, this year, the Daily Show comedienne didn’t care about that, all she did was lash out unapologetically over her roasts.
B) First, @michelleisawolf took no prisoners last night. She roasted Trump, Pence, White House staffers, the media, media personalities. Everyone is focused on Sanders but that was only 1 1/2 minutes of Michelle's act. She went after everyone…as it should be.

Wolf mocked some members of the congress and the cabinet wherein she talked about how much punchlines she got for them but unfortunately, they either left or had been fired. She also had a take on the president himself by making some harsh criticisms. Trump actually referred to the media as “the enemy of the American people”, during the campaign period back in 2016. Ever since Trump became the president, he had managed to snub both last years and this year’s White House Correspondents Dinner. He held some kind of rally in Michigan this year and last year he did a similar thing in Pennsylvania.
However, if Trump managed to dodge the roasts from Wolf by not making an appearance, the White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, unfortunately, didn’t. Her table was actually just a few feet away from Wolf and she ended up having to endure all the harsh jokes thrown at her by the comedienne. Some other members of the media just let out a chuckle and some sat there in silence with a look of disbelief.

Kathy Griffin To The Rescue
Critics, of course, had to take a smack on Wolf after the dinner, but Kathy Griffin immediately comes to her defense. Critics have said that Wolf went completely out of line with her speech last Saturday in Washington, especially with how she roasted officials. Some of these critics are Ed Henry of Fox News as well as Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC, and they have actually mentioned how they think it is best for Wolf to apologize, especially to the White House Press Secretary who was sitting just a few feet away from her.
Griffin believes that there a nothing Wolf must feel sorry for, this is because she was hired to be there and perform a roast so technically, she was simply doing her job. She also called out on the other members of the press on why can’t they ask the president to apologize whenever he says something offensive towards people.
The comedienne also felt the need make a comment regarding last Saturday’s event and she made it clear that she was not roasting Sander’s appearance but her behavior as the press secretary of the White House, and also the fact that she had to represent the president since he chose to ignore the said even just like last year. Griffin expressed her thoughts and support to the comedienne by posting a series of tweets on her official Twitter account.
