Which of These Super Popular Fast and Furious Myths are True and Which are Not?

Ami Ciccone Jun 13, 2019

The film series The Fast and Furious has taken the world by storm with its heart whelming story line, sensational race cars, and breathtaking stunts.

No wonder why it ranked the ninth highest-grossing movie series of all time. Universal Pictures earned a combined revenue of $5 billion from it.

True or False?

Together with its popularity, a lot of tales have spread; some of them have verified to be true, while filmmakers falsified the other myths.

Being Practical

One of the legit news related to the film series is that they actually used aftermarket parts for the vehicles. As fancy as they may look, the production crew had to cut-down the expenses because the car mod decisions depend on the budget allotted.

And speaking of budget-friendly productions, the filmmakers also admitted that some of the cars used in the movies are loaned out. Mitsubishi is one of the major sponsors of the film series, who loaned out several 2002 Evo VIIs.

Cars Wear Make-Up Too!

Some of the cars in The Fast and Furious made it to several car shows

Also, some of the most-appealing cars may not look the same after the movies. Most of the vehicles went through some serious make-over processes before the camera started to roll and then got repainted back to their original appearance. Some even ended up having another paint job for a different movie, while some went straight to the dealership.

Sometimes, You Have to Settle for Less

With all those facts, it proves that the producers aren’t that powerful enough to get whatever car they want. One great example is when they wanted a LaFerrari, they actually settled for a 2014 Lykan Hypersport (which is not bad at all), since it would cost them a lot of time and effort to get the approval to buy a Ferrari.

Some cars are also too good to be true. In fact, many of them are actually made using CGI. With today’s advanced technology, who can blame the producers in being more practical? As long as the outcome looks and feels realistic, who are we to judge?

One of the most tragic real-life and on-screen events in The Fast and Furious, is Paul Walker’s death. With fans grieving, rumors that Lucas Black would replace him soon started to circulate. The filmmakers didn’t deny nor confirm this information at that time, but it was soon confirmed as a true rumor.
