It’s been more than a century since the first automobiles hit the roads, and over the years, we’ve seen some really interesting, unique, and wacky vehicles. While most of them served our specific requirements, some were way ahead of their time; and then there were the models which should never have left the drawing board!
But regardless of the design, the one thing that’s never really changed in cars is the seating arrangement. Admittedly, seating arrangements in most cars are really somber and boring. Two seats in the front, three in the back, and that’s about it. Although it’s probably for a logical reason, we can’t help but imagine what cars would look like with other, slightly different configurations?
Luckily for us, there have been numerous attempts to build something different and eye-catching with respect to car seating arrangements. Without keeping things under wraps for much longer, let’s move to some crazy car seat configurations that will definitely blow your mind!
McLaren F1
The McLaren F1 (introduced in 1992) made history in so many ways, and even today it’s one of the coolest supercars out there. The best feature on the car was the uncommon yet really sensible three-seat configuration, the middle seat being the driver’s. Yes! The F1 had a central driving position, and passengers sat on each side of the driver. This was a highly controversial interior design in the early 90s, but come to think of it, it does make a lot of sense. Unfortunately, McLaren F1 was never officially sold in the USA because of this very seating arrangement, which some believed was large and abrupt.
Fiat Multipla
For those who are unfamiliar, the Fiat Multipla was considered the ugliest car that was ever produced, which is why it became a constant laughing stock in the automotive world. But keeping its weird appearance aside, we believe the Multipla was a rather practical car model. It had plenty of room thanks to its boxy shape and low running cost. In fact, you can buy the car in today’s time as well, and that too, for as little as a couple of hundred pounds. The Multipla consisted of two seating rows and each one of them could hold around three people easily. All the seats were totally adjustable and you could even remove the entire row or middle seat, which essentially meant that you could transform the six-seater family carrier into a two-seater van, totally appropriate for moving bulky items and ideal for mountain rides.
Renault Twizy
The Twizy was a step ahead for the 50cc scooter! The car consisted of two seats, exactly what you can expect from an ultra-small car, but unlike its counterparts, the seats in the Twizy were positioned like those in a fighter jet – the driving seat in the front and passenger seat at the back! Certainly, there wasn’t enough space in the back and it was also too dark for comfort, but still, it presented a good alternative to walking and transporting 2 people over short distances.
Wasn’t that fun?
We hope you found this post extremely interesting and mind-scratching. These are just some automobiles that come with totally crazy configurations, but if you know any other cars that come with even weirder seating arrangements, don’t forget to share them with us!
