The Fast & Furious franchise has been around since 2001, and it has been an exhilarating ride. Get it?
All rides have their ups and downs, and the one setback that can hardly go unnoticed in this one has got to be the death of Paul Walker who starred alongside Vin Diesel.
The actors portrayed the characters Brian O’Conner and Dominic “Dom” Torreto respectively, a bromance that will live on in the memory of the franchise’s fans.
Furious 7 Final Scene
Remember that final scene from Furious Seven? It was the last we saw of O’Conner, and it was even more heart wrenching to know that the man driving his car alongside Vin Diesel wasn’t Paul, but rather one of his brother’s who’d been called up to fill in the role.
You may have been too emotional to notice that Torreto was cruising in a 1968 Dodge Charger, but that’s acceptable. It’s difficult to say goodbye to a loveable character, and an even better actor. Rest in peace Paul.
In the spirit of silver linings though, the iconic machine that Vin Diesel’s character was riding will be auctioned off soon, and if you’re that big of a Fast & Furious fan, get your checkbook ready.
By virtue of simply being part of Universal Picture’s most successful franchise, you bet that the Charger will cost an arm and a leg.
However, it features impressive specs, so its undoubtedly hefty selling price could never be described as a rip-off. They don’t refer to it as Maximus the Ultra Charger for nothing, do they?
There are also numerous other perks that come along with purchasing this Furious 7 machine, making its acquisition totally worth it.
For starters, hitting the highway with this beauty will definitely earn you some street cred, and that the massive engine churns out a 3,000 hp should make you untouchable out there.
There’s also the option of customization upon purchase, so the Dodge Charger has the potential to even be more intimidating than it already is. Isn’t an engine roar the mark of dominance on the highway?
The Sentimentality Angle
You can also look at this iconic machine from the sentimentality angle, and here we are, back to Paul Walker.
Ordinarily, cars made for movies in this franchise usually end up being destroyed on set. This Dodge Charger, however, is of intimate value to the Fast & Furious cast and crew.
It was created specifically as a tribute to the dearly departed actor, both for his contributions to the franchise, and for his friendship with Vin Diesel. As such, it was only fair that the honor to drive it fell to Diesel’s character, Dom.
As you should have already deduced, this machine became the one that was left intact after the movie’s filming was done.
With the Charger being already a celebrity in itself, it goes without saying that whoever buys it will have to deal with fame as well. The vehicle was the cover image of Hot Road Magazine recently, and is also slated to appear in a Netflix special this December.
If you’re at all interested, the auction will go down at the Riyadh Auction, an auction house based in Saudi Arabia. Fancy a trip to the Middle East?
