The American media franchise Fast and Furious has been filling up seats in the cinema since 2001, and it became a huge part of the actors’ lives. The casts and staff became family, the story-line felt real, and the vehicles resonated on the celebrities.
Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto
Working on a project for more than a decade can be both a blessing and a curse. There will be times that you would need to give up from days off, miss a few family gatherings, and even spend your birthday on set.
Becoming Family
But the beautiful thing about it is that the casts and the crews establish a strong bond with each other. The Fast and Furious family, for example, they’ve been together for over fifteen years, especially the ones who were there since day one.
Working with someone for that long, it’s impossible not to build a strong connection with each colleague.
1970 Dodge Charger for Vin Diesel’s Birthday
The American actor Mark Sinclair, also known as Vin Diesel, has been with the franchise ever since it started, and to honor Vin Diesel’s commitment and dedication, they surprised him with a huge birthday cake and a fierce muscle car.
We think they nailed the surprise. What else could be the perfect present for Dominic Toretto other than a sleek vehicle, right?
Mirroring his character’s personality, the custom-built 1970 Dodge Charger by Speedkore Tantrum boosts muscle and power. It uses a twin-turbo Mercury Racing V8 engine that produces 1650 horsepower using race fuel and 1350 horsepower on standard fuel.
To spin it the way Dominic Toretto would, they equipped the car with a six-speed manual gearbox, and the exterior of it purely consisted of Speedkore carbon fiber parts. They filled the interior with leather and Alcantara upholstery. Vin Diesel’s muscle car is as menacing as Kevin Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda.
Vin and Justin Tandem
They were able to capture the whole surprise, and Vin Diesel posted the clip on his official Instagram account, expressing how grateful he was for spending his birthday filming the 9th installment of the franchise. The film series’ director Justin Lim rendered a short, heart whelming speech appreciating Vin Diesel’s love and devotion to the project.
Lim then presented the Fast family’s surprise to Vin Diesel that made him emotional and speechless. When he heard the engine’s sound, he couldn’t hide the excitement and his gratefulness to be part of such an awesome family.
Although most people knew him as Dominic Toretto, Vin Diesel also starred in numerous films such as Saving Private Ryan, The Chronicles of Riddick, and The Pacifier.
