Shirley Higgins Jun 18, 2022

Obesity is a medical condition whereby there is excessive fat in the body. Changing lifestyles, lack of physical activities, and bad eating habits allow this condition to progress over time. The excessive use of mobile devices, television, and other gadgets has limited people from engaging in physical activities and so, obesity has become a common medical problem, which results in various complications if not dealt with timely.

Obesity And Its Problems

It will not be wrong to say that obesity is one of the main sources of various other medical problems. People with obesity may face problems such as diabetes, high BP, heart problems, acidity problems, infertility, and gynecological problems. It’s the need of the hour to try and beat this problem to live a healthier life. Doctors regard obesity as a progressive disease as it drastically increases and negatively affects the life expectancy of a person. To deal with it, start by taking small steps toward reducing weight, as even a modest weight loss will have a positive impact on your physical and mental health.

Measures That Can Be Taken To Reduce Weight

Making changes in your diet and avoiding junk food can make a huge impact on your weight. You’ll also feel healthy!

Add vegetables, pulses, and chickpeas to your diet as they’re filling and don’t increase weight. Eating a healthy, low-calorie diet is important for losing weight. Cut down on your snack cravings and exercise regularly. Consult an expert to tell you which exercises work best and are effective in reducing weight.

Consult a dietician to create a diet plan according to your Body Mass Index (BMI). This way, you’ll know what to eat and what to avoid to maintain an optimum weight. Dieticians mostly include whole grains, fresh fruits, and legumes in diet plans whereas items such as sugary treats, chips, fries, and burgers are a big No!

Drink water whenever you feel the need to or munch on something so that the craving is suppressed. Moreover, drinking water will keep you hydrated. There are also various medications and weight loss procedures that you can opt for to treat obesity.

It’s very important to consider obesity a disease and not take it lightly! In the initial stages, you can try different diets and work on changing your lifestyle to reduce your weight. In the initial stages, losing weight will be comparatively easier and the results will motivate you to try harder. On the other hand, as obesity increases, you’ll have to work harder to achieve even a small reduction in weight. This is because as weight increases, even basic physical activities become a burden, making workouts difficult.

In this case, you should start with yoga and modify your diet to work your way towards reducing BMI.
