More than eight years ago, ITV released a historical period television series Downton Abbey in the United Kingdom. PBS also aired the TV drama in the United States of America on January 9, 2011.
It’s been almost four years since the last episode aired, yet fans still can’t move on. Luckily, there is an upcoming Downton Abbey film this September and an exhibit of the actual props and costumes from the set of the TV series called Downton Abbey: The Exhibition.
Downton Abbey: The Exhibition
The exhibit premiered in the City of Dreams in a Victorian-era building close to the Columbus Circle sometime around 2017.
In the fall of last year, it had its relaunch in West Palm Beach, Florida, and it is currently viewing at The Castle at Boston’s Park Plaza. After that, another exhibit will take place in the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, North Carolina this November.
A Very Special Venue
The fourth location holds a very significant sentimental value to the show because the 8,000-acre property was built by none other than the Vanderbilt family. The interactive exhibit will split into two different venues.
Multimedia displays will be shown at the Amherst at Deerpark showcasing the classical Mrs. Patmore’s kitchen and the quarters of the always-hustling servants.
Meanwhile, over fifty costumes will scatter around the Biltmore Legacy in Antler Hill Village alongside the building’s pre-existing exhibitions like The Vanderbilts At Home and Abroad.
There will be numerous interactive corners where people can explore and feel included in the set. Fans can also relive the scenes from the TV series through the use of CGI.
A Walk Through Nostalgia
When the star Sophie McShera, who played the role of Daisy Mason, went to see the exhibit in New York, said that it felt like a walk through the memory lane because everything was completely identical to the original set.
There is no news about the exhibit’s next location, although the website confirmed that they have plans to move to more venues.
Downton Abbey TV Series
Downton Abbey earned several awards and recognition such as a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film, Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie, a Guinness World Records entry for gaining the most commendation among all television series in 2011.
It also received a total of twenty-seven Primetime Emmy Awards nominations and amassed the highest rating on both the United Kingdom and the United States networks.
The last episode of the television drama which is a Christmas special aired on Christmas Day of 2015. To easily cope with the separation anxiety, a movie adaptation was aired on the silver screen on July 13, 2018.
