The American singer-songwriter Katy Perry has been very much involved in several charitable causes in recent years.
In fact, she became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in December 2013 after she flew to Madagascar to help the organization in improving the education and health of the youth. Just recently, she had another philanthropic venture that focuses on the issue of climate change.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Kept it Low-Key
Perry decided to ditch her cosmetics on her makeup cabinet and dressed down for the gathering. She and her soon-to-be husband, Orlando Bloom participated in the Google Camp climate change conference alongside Hollywood’s big names such as her fellow voyagers, Oprah Winfrey, and Bradley Cooper.
The couple noticeably wore a very casual attire to remain low-key although, people couldn’t still shake the idea of them comfortably arriving via motor-boat that contradicts the summit’s purpose.
What good could a matching grey hoodie and jogging pants do to the planet if you burned an insane amount of gasoline just to get to your point of destination? What’s even worse is that motor-boats are not even allowed to enter the premises of the island.
Google Camp’s Summit Faced Several Controversies
During the three-day event, several famed celebrities rendered speeches and pledge to do something to help the planet heal from the damage caused by global warming. Prince Harry who recently had a child with his wife, Meghan Markle said, they would only have one more offspring aside from their new-born son, Archie due to the aggravating condition of our planet.
Even the Duke and Duchess of Sussex got criticized by many people because they flew via private jet and a helicopter just to reach the island. It seemed hypocrite to discuss serious environmental matters without considering their own actions that are actually causing the problems that they’re trying to solve during the camp.
Was it Too Luxurious?
Google hosted the all-expense-paid luxurious green-fest in Verdura Resort on the island of Panarea, in Italy.
Two hundred famous personalities reportedly attended the gathering, and they used a total of 114 private jets as their means of transportation. Aside from that, they had a jamboree on $400-million worth of chartered yachts.
It was difficult to keep track of the wasteful luxury the event has poured. According to the reports, the air-transports alone blew up 864 tons of carbon dioxide into the planet’s atmosphere.
Not to mention the water vessels, and the posh vehicles such as Ferraris, Maseratis, Porches, and heavy-duty SUVs.
Harry Styles, Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Campbell, Diane Von Furstenberg, and many more celebrities attended the vacation-like Google Camp climate summit.
