Spending sixteen seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs, the National Football League legend, Joe Montana was able to make his dream house come true. With an estimated net worth of $80 million, he surely doesn’t need to let go of his precious home, but he reportedly just listed his Sonoma Estate in the market.
Joe Montana Sells His Dream House for $28.9 Million
Way back in 2009, the former football quarterback initially put the property in the listing but immediately took it off after his four children asked him to keep the residence for a few more years.
Now that they are all grown up and super busy with their projects, Joe decided that it is finally time to let go of the house, and sell it for $28.9 million.
Home Features
It took the Montanas five years to fully finish building the house that spans 9,700 square feet. It has three bedrooms with three bathrooms and an additional powder room. The property highlights two minarets with stunning views of Mount Saint Helena. It also features wood-beamed arched ceilings, tapestries, and enormous furnaces.
The Montana family has traveled to Italy and France quite a lot during Joe’s active years, so most of the home’s furnishings and architectural designs came from their Italian and French trips. Beautiful and traditional murals embellish the house, including a fresco designed by the Montanas that features the family’s emblem.
Adding to its unconventional vibes, the house guests have to cross a bridge over a canal to reach the front door. There is also a stone well siting on the compound, as well as a church shrine from the 17th century, and old-aged iron gates. They also have a spacious wine cellar that can hold up to 3, 500 decanters, a deluxe tasting room, and an outdoor wine-tasting patio.
Outdoor Amenities
As picturesque as the interior is, the outdoor space boasts a magnificent view as well. Visitors can enjoy several amenities such as a bocce ball court, basketball court, skeet firing range, freshwater pond, two canoeing streamlets, and a pool area. But most of all, Joe Montana dedicated the 50-acre Sonoma Country compound to house thirty horses in a sweeping equestrian facility.
One of the property’s natural benefits is the production of olive oil from the plantation of primeval Tuscan varietal olive trees surrounding the area. The Montana family bottles at least thirty to sixty gallons of extract every year.
Throughout his football career, he was able to take home four Super Bowl championship titles, three Super Bowl MVP awards, two NFL Most Valuable Player awards, and a lot more.
